We tried both the X1 and X2 when looking in July 18. ( with us both being in mid 70's we dropped from 3 cars to 2 cars [swaped prev e84 X1 and OH's Nissan QQ ]) We prefered the X1 as it is bigger and better boot for the dog. We wanted to check the seats with lumber support [always had it before] and the dealers could not find a f84 with it fitted. We found a used one same dealership but 80 miles away. We went to try the seats out , found it almost the spec we were going for , so bought it It was 3 month old 2100 miles , sold originally by the dealer in Plymouth (vis Mobility ) it was returned to BMW and bought in by our local dealership. 20i, Mineral Metallic While , xLine xDrive , Sport Seat with lumber support.566 wheels plus a few more ----the bit I wanted were folding mirrors. Its only been recently we found it has a 4year/60,000 mile service pack , seems they are sold for motability cars .

I was just about to say @GunRunner make sure you are happy with the seats, when I looked at the X2 it was the seats that put me off, but maybe with lumbar they are better? Just seem too narrow and slab like to me, but I did have comfort seats at the time in my 5GT.

Thanks to both of you. I just now concluded the deal with a deposit of £1000. See note. As soon as the factory starts producing on 18th May, it will go into production. We have made the purchase on the understanding that if there is a problem with the test drive in a few weeks time, we can unwind everything and go back to the pre-deposit situation. Yes, we have purchased the lumbar support and naturally the sports seats. The dealership is excellent and good to deal with. They were very fair with part-ex prices and gave us a discount equivalent to car-wow with a £2850 discount.
I was going to purchase the Sport version, but it came to the point where we had most of what we wanted (well nearly) and they were going to supply the new car and take both of the others from us and give us £1350.00 back. That is when I realized the prices were very keen and they were keen to move forward, so we went up to the X1 2.0i M Sport in Storm Bay colour. This meant with privacy glass and adaptive suspension we owed them £289.
Note. Because we still have both cars and cannot get them to the dealership garage (still locked) we had to give a deposit of £1000. When all concluded, we will get the £711 back from them (£1000-£289). If you see what I mean?

Just a few highlights of the specification in April 2020.
    BMW X1 xDrive20i M Sport
    Storm Bay metallic
Sports seats Black w/ blue highlight Dakota leather w/ perforation
Aluminium Hexagon interior trim with Estoril Blue finisher
    18" Bicolour Double-spoke 570M Wheels (see note1)
    Tech Pack 1
Tech Pack 2: Head-up Display. BMW Navigation Plus
Adaptive suspension. This selection deletes the lowered M Sport Suspension (10mm) in the configurator but gives the stiffness back when Sport setting is activated when driving on smooth roads. (Remember the government is going to use taxpayers money to fund the filling in of the potholes - that is if there is any money left) (see note 1)
    Space-saver
High Gloss Black rails + ext trim
    Lumbar support
    Sun protection glass

Note1. There have been comments on U-tube that the car can have some cabin/road noise, so I kept the 18" wheels. Adaptive suspension gives back the firmer setting.

See my previous thread about an X1 18d courtesy car that I had recently. I was pleasantly surprised by the way it drove. Nice quiet ride and sufficient torque for a large SUV. My only criticism was the plasticy interior. But I could quite happily live with one as an everyday driver and more than enough space for two people.

Nothing concrete yet, because the factory does not restart until 18th May. Probably around August/September. The dealership did say that under normal circumstances it would be June. I will just have to wait and see.
