It was a busy day yesterday and to top it all, it rained for several hours making the hand over by the dealer a wet soggy affair.
When we started the order in April, we splurged out on it and have a few added extras. SWMBO had quite an input, so we kept adding to it before the order was finalised. I did not argue. The factory started building X1's on 7th May, but because there was a large build backlog, they did not start ours until 8th September. It arrived on the 28th and was registered on 29th and we collected it yesterday the 30th. It replaces 2 cars. Mine was an Audi Q5 Quattro TFSI Sline, and hers was a Polo SE 1.0 95 95PS 7 Speed DSG 5 Door.
It is quite a good specification as follows:
    Mineral Grey (metallic)
Black with blue highlight Dakota leather with perforations
    Adaptive Suspension
Steering wheel heating comes bundled with a pack
Space-saver spare wheel (normal tyres NOT Runflats)
    Comfort Access
    Reversing Assist Assist Camera
    Panoramic sunglass
    Sun protection glass
Electric Fr Seats + Driver Memory
Lumbar support driver and front pass
    BMW Icon Adaptive LED Headlights
    Head-up Display
    Enhanced Bluetooth with wireless charging
    BMW Navigation Plus
    Comfort Pack 2
    Technology Pack 1
    Technology Pack 2

I am busy sorting out the Gtech ceramic coating and the u1000 Thinkware Dash Cam. We have sorted all added insurances privately including Gap insurance from our previous agent provider.
Edited. The sun came out later, so I managed some Photographs.

We await your first report, and pictures.

Will be interesting to read your views on the engine choice.

Oddly enough, I was going to ask you if 'the event' had happened as planned. A good choice of delivery date, my Mum had one on that date [more years ago than I care to remember....:whistling:] too. (y)

As Peter says ^^, looking forward to a FULL report in due course. :driving:

How exciting! I’ve no idea how you’ve managed to wait so long, my patience wouldn’t have stretch that far.

Looking forward to the updates and photos.

You will have to have some patience guys! As well as all the normal old age problems, such as bowel cancer and liver resection all 17 years ago followed 18 months ago with a blood clot in the top left ventricle of the Heart (yes you heard it correctly) that necessitated me going onto warfarin, I now have to wear an AIRCAST Wrist brace with thumb Spica for a wrist tendon problem. This means my touch typing has degraded to hunting and pecking on the keyboard that makes typing a major problem.

That sounds like a rum deal and a half, but you know what they say, a picture paints a thousand words...! ;-)

That is a good spec. Looking forward to the report and pictures. Especially interested in what you think of the engine as my wife is keen on an X1 / X2 / X3 to replace her 118i and would prefer petrol.

I spend my days doing that.. Predictive text helps sometimes, much less so at others :redcard:

Very nice - Have these grown to old x3 size ?
Shall be hard to find a similar spec, the options cost surely had no limit and little left on the list
    Hope you enjoy!

From behind, you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference if it wasn't for the X1 badge

Thanks. Enjoying it already. Filthy weather slowing us down a bit. As ed says.....
In fact, coming of Morrisons today one came into the car park and I had to look at the rear to be sure it was an X3. It is not until you park one against the other that you can tell the difference.

Congratulations on the new car arrival and hope you have many happy miles in it!

Ours has barely covered 500miles since we bought it, but it's proving to be a good companion. My Partner's delighted with it and still has to pinch herself that it's hers. The confidence with which she drives around in it is lovely to see given she was never hugely fond of driving the Porsche. She's not a fan of the hair-trigger throttle and the size of it, whereas the X1 just ticks all the boxes.

For me, although I went through a phase of driving the X1 whenever the opportunity arose, I now take the Macan whenever I can. That's nothing against the X1, if there were any other car on the driveway, then the X1 would get my vote more often. It's a great little car and what strikes me is just how smooth the 4-cylinder petrol is. The start-up/idle from the outside sounds like a diesel but inside it's very well dampened (acoustically) and has a surprising turn of speed when you give it some welly or pop it into Sport mode. On average we get 10-15mpg more than we do out of the Macan, which means for normal short A-road journeys we get 30-32mpg and for longer trips we're pushing >40mpg.

The only downside so far is the tyre-noise which would put me off taking it on a much longer trip. Will be interested to see how you get on with that and if the CrossClimates change anything in that regard.

But you've got yourself a great car there, which looks the part and should keep you happy on the toy count front. Enjoy!

I feel the same way with the wifes X1

Other than tyre noise there is nothing fundamentally wrong with it, she lives it BUT given the choice I take my G30 everytime, especially on longer trips, I just find it a more comfortable and relaxing place to be.

Likewise she will take the X1 any day in preference to the G30

Both have done similar miles 25k yet the tyres on the X1 are down to about 3mm.....the G30 are still about 6mm all round
