    Hi

    About 6 months ago I purchased a brilliant E93 330i (2009).

However last week the ABS light came on and the speedo needle was stuck at zero then "jumped " to 20mph (then was fine). I plugged in Carly and had the following two errors (one related to the above, and one unconnected):

    DSC
Fault code: 005DB3 - speed sensor rear left

    Engine/motor
Fault code: 0030E9 - Nitric Oxide catalyst aging

Also had code 005DB6 - Yaw rate sensor, but I was able to clear this without it re-appearing.

    1) Re the DSC code - is it a case of a new sensor or could it be more serious.
    2) And the NOx catalyst issue - I have no idea what it does/is, but is it a case of replacement (and is it costly?). I thing the car might be running rich as on startup, there is more than a whiff of petrol - but this might be unconnected.
    3) The car seems to take ages to get up to temperature - is this normal? (or am i only noticing it as I have an oil temp gauge in this car?!)

Finally, I have zero (or slightly less than zero) mechanical skills. Could anyone recommend a good BMW Indy in Watford who could sort the issues?

    Many thanks for your help.

    Simon

I have had experience of a 2008 325i E92 with a broken speed sensor. Mine gave lots of warning errors regarding the ABS and TCS, it came and went over a period of 2 weeks. It was tracked down to a broken reluctor ring on the drive shaft. Replaced under warranty.
If it is just the reluctor ring then it’s a cheap fix. The part is minimal, fitting easy enough. If the sensor obviously more. Would need further investigation as to which.

Can’t comment on the other codes I’m afraid, although it does sound like a degradation of the sensor due to age.
