One up from a cold start today. Took it easy doing 55 to 65 mph round the M60 and along the M62 with impressive results: Some of the diesel is asking £2.00 a litre around Macclesfield thanks to that orange buffoon in the White House
Impressive indeed....if the cost per litre wasn't so high Diesel still makes a lot of sense for high mileage drivers....
I need to pick something up from the Colchester area on Saturday and was going to take the van but I seriously considering taking the M3 as the cost of unleaded vs diesel could make it a cheaper trip in the M lol. Diesel prices are hurting me in the van at the moment. The orange mussolini is a lunatic!!!!!
Realised today that my overnight rate for electricity is 3.2p per unit. On my 130 mile drive today my car averaged 3.2m per kwh (unit) so i think that meant it cost me 1p per mile. Not bad for a 600hp 5 meter long limo estate. (I am under no illusions that it will stay at this price. I will also have to charge in the wild on Sunday on way back which will likely cost £15. And of course the cheap fueling is a by product, I actually love the quiet, refined drive most).
That Oompah-Loompah in the White House has a lot to answer for. Come Sunday we're off on our regular cross-Europe trip to Bosna i Herzigovina. This time next week we'll be 2750 miles home at Lord knows what cost. Even the ferry fares have gone up 15% since last month.
I saw diesel in France had hit 2.4 euros per litre. Hopefully cheaper on your route. Have a safe trip.
It was EUR 2.15c / litre in Dublin this week at most places for derv. Protestors out on the motorways on foot demanding Gov action today.
Correct me I'm wrong but I believe the Irish govt have reduced their fuel duty since the Iran crises started. Shame our lot are not doing the same whilst raking it in.
Two garages on my way to work (A road), one Mobil, one BP are now selling diesel at £2.08/ litre, the way the ceasefire is working I suspect it will continue to climb . Time to buy a field of solar panels and a BYD.
Wife just filled up locally (Cambs) at £1.92/litre for the Disco. That's a local garage, not on the motorway network or trunk road. I've just bought myself an Ecoflow Delta 3 Plus with 2x additional batteries giving me 4kW together with a couple of 400W foldable solar panels in case the excrement really hits the fan and we're in blackout territory. It'll at least run the fridge, microwave and a few ancillaries for a few weeks.
Yeah they did and off the back of the protests they are knocking another 10 cents off this Tuesday along with a bunch of other measures for farmers and hauliers based on their consumption last year along with a couple of cents cut to green (agricultural use ) diesel. The protests caused a lot of disruption and there are still some remaining. Major motorways were blocked, they blocked a refinery and ports so forecourts running out of supply. We live in north Wicklow and my son had a football match in north Dublin, the semi-orbital motorway M50 was blocked by protesters so round trip was 5 hours instead of probably 3... that was fun... and they lost! ~S.
Big difference in fuel prices around here. Macclesfield is notoriously expensive with Esso/Shell at £1.99 a litre for diesel. Had to go to Crewe yesterday and managed to get Esso at £1.89 a litre and I get 4 pence a litre off that with a WEX card so £1.85 a litre. Still cost £70 to fill up despite tank reading over half full before fuelling up!!
Circa 500 miles in the Z3 this weekend, about 30mpg so glad it's not my daily especially as she only gets RON99 (no Council pop for my old girl). The bike however is circa 85mpg The C-in-C's 1.2 turbo Yeti is a shocker on fuel, even on a steady eco run it's only about 44mpg, usually runs at 30mpg ish on short runs. That's a great return on economy
It's at moments like this where I wished I didn't have a motorhome with a 100l derv tank and a Discovery with an 85l derv tank, running 21mpg & 28mpg, respectively. However, we have to keep it in perspective, although it's not ideal and for a lot of folks potentially quite painful, I count myself lucky that across those two vehicles which each only do about 6k miles per annum, in total it's about £100per month more in fuel costs. A pain, but not going to break the bank in the context of their wider ownership costs.
