One 19”rear wheel in for diamond cut refurb and van for service (so it’s out the picture).Got to retrieve the wheel today so car is the only option. Acquired a 17” parallel spoke alloy just recently and have the 325 sitting with that on at present but was not intending to drive it but needs must . Question is it safe to do a 30 mile round trip. ed.
When folk use space savers they are able to drive certain distances but not exceeding 50mph, if I remember correctly. Therefore I can’t see any issue with your odd alloy/tyre. If it were me I’d just take it easy and keep my speed down.
Agree with all of the above.. Odd wheel will be fine under 50mph.. as long as rolling dia’ is same... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is the wheel I was running on ...any five series buffs out there looking for a spare .... 17” genuine parallel spoke with 255/40/17 Dunlop sport tyre NB...in decent condition but could do with refurb......tyre done less than 50 miles but manufacturers date is 1707 . Any offers ?
The best BMW wheels in my eyes. I’ve got four of them on my E92.....perfect condition at the moment....had to do one DIY refurb on the rim. Have you ticked “stay logged in”? Somewhere in the options.
Yes it s safe . I was going to Inverness with my last E46 for an Airbag Recall. Because it was summer I had the 19s on and I got rear puncture . Had to put on the Spacesaver and carry on , then drove the 50 plus miles home from the Dealers at Inverness . it was nt too bad to be honest , but it did look daft , did nt go over 50mph though .
That 5 series wheel is probably the wrong offset and definitely the wrong hub diameter (76.2mm verses 74.6mm from memory , so it wouldn’t sit on the hub and will wobble about. I think you were lucky to get away with that
Cheers kleynie....didnae feel anything untoward when driving...but VERY unlikely that it will be on it again . ed.
