Kev Your worrying over nothing If it troubles you, you can reset yourself with a simple YouTube video When it goes in for service they shall reset again, regardless if they service it will be reset and heehoo said I was 4 months late last year and continue to service 12 months from last service, granted my mileage is on the other side of over, but they still service and take my monies (Pfft!) End of Lease I’ll state COVID caused the missed 4th service prior to hand back - win win for me as it’s the big service!
Thanks @snrbrtsn wasn't sure i could use that excuse as no more lock downs now etc but i arranged the servicing thinking I'd have more than enough miles left but sadly not the case - fingers crossed. As I'm trading into Fords, they may not even know/care but I guess depends if they sell it or trade it back to BMW to then sell, not sure. Kev
Hi all, At dealership now, as expected they have ignored the fact car hasn't done mileage or 1 year, they say its just a guide it doesn't have to do the 18k a year etc, it can be less or how I drive it. I also know they not looked at it as car still in car park and not moved. They say was due 87 miles ago. Now waiting, they say will take 90minutes. Kevin
Got the car back, vehicle check is all ok, only issue he pointed out was some "slight sweating" around front flat *something* ends? , I can't make out what he says on video. He said no leaks etc so its all good. Also, 1 rear tyre is at 3mm so they recommend changing (which I wont be obviously), weirdly rear tyres are 4mm and 3mm, they always been identical till now. I've attached pics, if anyone knows what they are called regarding the "slight sweating" and what causes it? Service cost was £214.54 for oil service & microfilter. I did point out the website showed £193.xx but they said yes but when you click on it, they add £20 to it, presume for some oil disposal or something (I've not clicked on it to check as in the show room by then so had to pay what they said). Thanks Kev
They also didn't say anything about car no longer having full service history so i presume it still does Thanks Kev
Good result, despite the extra £20, but that’s BMW dealers for you! Please do let us know how you get on with the Ford Focus, as it’s one of the potentials to replace my wife’s Golf next year
I think that's the lower wishbone? Here's the part on my e60 [part E], a search on RealOEM would find the corresponding part for yours. As to cause....general wear I think, that's the grease starting to find its way out. Could go on for some time, you've not heard any 'clunking ' from that corner, have you?
Thanks @Adie hmm not what he called them in the video that's for sure lol, fingers crossed they remain ok He didn't seem too bothered, however I'm also thinking it has been raining here over night and foggy/mist, wondering if that has anything to do with it? Kev
Thanks @slim_boy_fat it is both wheels at the front (pics are of each side), no not heard anything unusual. Are these costly to replace (if required), do they usually go after 5.5 years? Car has done 37k. Thanks Kev
I presume slight sweating mean's it is early stages so should last a while? Hopefully new car comes before this becomes more of a problem, service guy didn't say it needed attention/repair etc, just to be aware of, slight sweating. Kev
Could stay like the images for 1,000's of miles, with little or no further deterioration. Not something that needs attention at the present time... you have simply been made aware of it, IMO. BTW, when's the new car due to arrive? Peter
Thanks @Peter . That's good to hear, I was thinking this maybe something I would need to get repaired before I got rid of it but hopefully it will last another coupe of months At present, I've been told December or January, I don't have a date so I'm just waiting. If I don't hear anything by end of Nov, I might give them a ring just to see if any update etc. Kev
I don't think you'll have any issues in that time frame. You are not a high mileage user. I'd try and forget it and look forward to the new car. Peter
The part they’re referring to is the track rod end, it connects the steering rack to the wheel hub assembly on each side.
l thought we had worked out that the service you had in march this year was standard scope service (code read), brake fluid service, and the MOT due at 5 years from build date so the car would be due an oil and filter service at six years from build date, how many miles has the car done since the march 2019 service which will be the last time that your oil and filters were changed the normal 15k-18k miles between oil service on CBS has been reduced due to the way you have used the car if you did hundreds of miles a week on the motorway you would get more miles between oil service but lots of short journeys you will get less miles between oil service that is how condition based servicing works what was your milege at the last oil service in march 2019 compared to the 37k you are on today
as for the weeping on the lower arms l would not worry about it and just keep using the car as normal that is the sort of thing that a car could fail an MOT for but your car will be long gone by then
