Servicing question. I have a F15 purchased last November from main dealer. It now has 50k miles and due a service in 1700 miles. This is the servicing due and prev history. Due Oil - 1700 miles or 11/2020 Brake fluid 02/2020 Vehicle check 20,000 miles 11/2022 Vehicle Inspection 10/2020 History 22,897 miles 22/08/2017. Engine oil, Microfilter, Recirculated air cleaner 38,236 miles 28/11/2018. Engine oil, Vehicle check, Microfilter, Recirculated air cleaner, Air cleaner element, Fuel filter My question is do I get it done at the dealer to satisfy my BMW history OCD , but more importantly is this a requirement for the AUC Warranty? For the next service, is it a repeat of the first service carried out in 2017? I could probably do the Microfilter and Air cleaner element myself. Also what sort of prices for servicing at main dealer? When I purchased the car they tried to get me to sign up for a servicing plan £101 initial payment followed by 30 x £46 a month . AFAIK, you're free to have your car serviced by any garage, provided you can demonstrate that only genuine BMW parts have been used and any fluids conform to the specifications laid down. If going that route, keep in mind that should you need to appeal for 'goodwill' help with expensive repairs after the AUC warranty has expired, BMW are more likely to look favourably on it if the car has been serviced within the Dealership network. You pays yer money and takes yer chance, as they say.
Ahh fab thank you. I didn’t know fixed price servicing was available. That’ll save me having to call around the nearest local dealers to get the best price. Yeah it’s more of the goodwill help that I’m concerned with. I had a Seat Leon once which was serviced outside the network. It had a failed ABS pump not long past the 3 year warranty and they refused point blank to replace or any sort of goodwill. This particular fault is rife in a lot of the VAG cars and that part failure is not attributable to any part of a service. I think an oil service will do and I’ll check my filters and change myself. if you do an online booking for fixed price servicing it is worth doing a screen grab of the booking page. l did have an issue where they tried to charge me more on the day of the service l managed to book an oil and oil filter change for £99.00 online but on the day they tried to charge me £129.00 and had to show them a screen grab of the booking before they dropped the price to £99.00 lf your car is older than four years old then some of the prices quoted will be what BMW call Value service. cheaper servicing designed to keep older cars within the dealer network

l always book online but never had to pay up front always had to pay at the desk most dealers offer fast lane service which normally takes about an hour and a half so l just wait in the dealers until the car is ready as it saves trudging around the shops
I’ve had a good experience with the “fast lane” servicing at the local Sytners. Booked on my app and turned up, car was signed in, coffee made, forms signed, had a wonder around the new cars, mine was finished, paid as agreed and out. 55 mins all in. That was for a brake fluid change, did the same for an MOT a month before that.
Definitely agree as already said above 'if you do an online booking for fixed price servicing it is worth doing a screen grab of the booking page.' I booked a service at the 'Black Friday' sale price last Nov. The dealer tried to charge me full price at first but honoured sale price in the end.
So an update, the Connected App is now prompting me for the brake fluid change. I called up the supplying dealership and they will honour a free brake fluid change. I said the oil needs doing too in around 1600 miles, so they’ll do that at the same time for the online Fast lane booking/value service price (£129.) They tried to get me to have the oil and micro filters at a cost of £340, but they can jog on with that as that by my calculation works at around £110 for fitting the Microfilter(s) when you compare the price to buy them. Next load of serving due in the next few months. This time it’s a vehicle check and then filters etc. Price will be circa £500. Again having the debate of whether I just get an oil and fuel filter change and do the other filters myself. Reservations on how the onboard servicing history will look. Also will I potentially invalidate my insured warranty? Or do I go to a Vat registered garage or specialist and get it done there, but then I have the worries of future part exchange or resale value as well as the onboard service history. Provide the right spec oil yourself - rather than pay £25 a litre plus vat that dealers charge Suggest you can get parts 10% cheaper from a UK dealer via an owners club, likely they will reduce there prices I also got a discount when i pointed out that the MOT was checking many of the same things included in the visual health check Just seen the above prices £100 USB map update, my local dealer was charging £35 earlier this year £53.34 to refill the adblue when you can buy 10 litres for about £15 !
C Cheers Ed, will see if I can negotiate a deal but they are a funny bunch in my local dealership. where as I suspect the Dealership that supplied me the car would be more obliging, but they are in Preston
One good thing I can see on the Vehicle check is the headlamp checking to ensure correct height etc as I feel the beam cut off is too low. Looking at previous MOT history the aim was too high so I suspect someone may have adjusted too low (hoping) as the lights are pants!
I have bought 3 new BMWs from one dealership over the years but get a far better deal on servicing by going to another local dealer i have never bought a car from ! In fact the dealership ive bought from recently refused to honour the on line price they had quoted the previous day (added another £30), refused to remove it and adviced me to go elsewhere if i could get it cheaper
