Making an awful knocking and banging noise at low speeds when turning also. When turning when stationary you can feel the steering tighten up and then it makes a loud banging noise and the offside driveshaft moves a lot.

Great cars, sorry to hear of the circumstances.

I have to ask as no one else has, how comes the AMG has snow on it and the car next to it appears to have no snow :)

I would say the AMG has been sat on the drive and not used and the snow has frozen on to the car, the other car has been used so the snow has been cleared off or has melted or blown off whilst the car was being driven

My old mate had an sl 55 amg. It was the most unreliable car he ever had, plagued by electric gremlins causing breakdowns. Lovely motor when it worked but he had enough in the end and traded it in.

Used the Skoda on Saturday when the snow was coming down and left the SL on the drive just in case.

Touch wood, this one has been pretty good. It broke down a couple of years ago due to a flat starter battery and a faulty alarm siren that caused the drain and that has been the only time it has left someone stranded. I spent some time tracing a suspension and handling issue that was traced to tyres in the end.

    cheers

Haven’t driven the car at all this year sadly. Started it last weekend to run it for a while so need to make the effort now to take it out properly.

    Cheers

So through COVID I’ve done 400 odd miles in 18 months or so between MOT’s. Last drove it in October 2020 and got in it yesterday and service is overdue by 93 days!

Going to get that booked on. Done about 120 miles on the last couple of days and hope to use it more now the weather is improving.

    Cheers

In for a service at the moment. An A service, brake fluid change, rear brake hoses, exhaust clamp and a prop shaft flex disc all required. That will be £2200 sir.

Should get it back next week with any luck. Not too bad considering it is 17 years old this September

    Cheers
