The E70 does not have a spare wheel as it has run flats. This is probably OK for when I am driving in this country as I would be able to find a tyre place if I got a puncture. I am a bit worried about when I am driving in Europe as I would not be able to find a tyre place easily, especially when on an autoroute or driving on a Sunday or when towing. What do others do about a spare? Do you not bother, do you carry a can of tyre repair gunk? do you carry a spare? My car has 20" wheels so I would need a 20" spare but the front and rear wheels are a different width, so would it be better to get one the same size as the front or back? Would an E53 20" wheel fit the E70? My previoud E53 X5's had a spare that was a different size to both the front and rear! Any advise appreciated.
Hi I dont think you can tow with a space saver ! The E53 wheel wont fit an E70 as it has different wheel centres 72.6mm on the E53 and 74.1mm E70 You can use an 18" E70 with a 255/55/18 tyre or a 255/50/19 tyre , the 18" are none staggered but the 255/50/19 wheel might be just check that it has an offset of et48 which can be used front or back , the rolling height are the same due to the height of the tyres as you will have 275/40/20 front 315/35/20 rears .
