A great long weekend in Scotland with Team Zed. Seven cars all in compromising of; Z3 2.8 Single VANOS, senior citizen of the group (mine) Z3 2.8 Twin VANOS Z3 2.8 Twin VANOS Facelift Z3 2.2 (224,000 miles so nearly run in ) Z4 E85 3.0 si Z4 E89 SDrive 20i Z4 G29 SDrive 20i Based just outside Dumfries in a nice hotel with decent food. Forecast was grim but roof down 70% on Saturday, a few savage showers, and 100% on Sunday with sun all day (roof down there and back too). 500 miles for me with others coming from further afield. Two great routes Car defo needed a good clean when home due to the weather.
Fab trip and know some of those roads really well. I particularly enjoy the passes to the West of the M74 which are fabulous free driving roads. Good turn out early in the year.
Some great roads that are largely ignored with folk going higher up the west coast. That said, Dumfries and Galloway are the UK pot hole champions! Max concentration required.
Having just come back from a trip up there in the motorhome, I know the roads well. Beautiful part of the world - thanks for the photos and glad a good time was had!
Friars Carse Hotel - stayed there a couple of times and they organised the wedding of my wife's niece. A great place and good food - it's one of the historic Tower Houses in Dumfries and Galloway. Dumfries and Galloway is perfect for a road trip. Just watch out for the potholes on the Solway Coast road DAMHIK. I'm assuming the photo of the statue is from Port William? It happens to be my wife's uncle, Jock Gilmour, one of the last fisherman in the town. Her mother's family were all fishermen in the area. Happy memories!
Small World. Operation 'evade potholes' was in operation on said road, and a few others. Agreed, some top driving roads
