    Hi All,

In the past, I have visited a well known and reputable tyre fitment centre in Hampshire. Their pricing is reasonable but I do find them rather rough when it comes to wheel removal / replacement (I have come back with minor small scratches near one of the wheel arches), plus damage to the sides of the alloys when the tyres are replaced and fitted. As a result, I am nervous to go back especially with my (new to me) F11. I am in need of two rear tyres.

Does anyone know of any tyre fitment centres in or around Hampshire (I am located near Southampton) that will fit tyres but also take reasonable care of my car (and also not damage the lip of my alloys)?

Depends where you source your tyres. Aiaif, Black Circle Tyres have contracted agents country wide and purchase price includes fitting [I think].

Alternatively, you could just point out to your present place that they need to take more care. Polite but firm are the keywords - softly, softly, catchee monkey.......(y)

Can’t be any help as not local.........

It annoys the hell out of me, to the point, the last time I took pictures of wheels before having tyres replaced, took the time to check prior to driving off, much to my dismay, once home and cleaning the white stuff off tyre I found the mark!
    Argh
Best intention and all that go to waste sometimes!

As slim says, if you get from black circles they make the appointment for you. If you say no to the garage because of previous issues, they will sort out another one that you will be happy with.

I ve used Black Circle in the past and when ordering there is a tick box sheet about your preferences for fitting , one of the boxes you can tick is for extra care to be taken when the tyres are fitted re your alloys . Can t remember if the tick sheet was from Black Circle ,OR the fitting company though, which in my case was Mconnachy s in Elgin.

A lot of it depends on the quality of the tyre fitting machine and it’s ability to remove runflats.. or not..
I have watched and assisted in various processes.... in most cases damage is almost unavoidable... the more so with 20-21 mega low profile.....plus diamond cut rim edges..
Whereas bmw have machines that can do the job with almost no human intervention..and hence no wheel damage...
The guy who I use for the 20” run flats goes the extra length with a piece of leather to protect the wheel rim where the levering takes place....sometime he can do one in 10 mins but sometimes it has took him 30 mins just to get one off... depends how it goes... he’s not a big bloke though...
your standard wheel garage is gonna struggle... and with no disrespect to the employees they are gonna struggle as well....to understand your frustration..
That’s why if you pay a tenner you get a gorilla but if you pay a bit more... up to £40 you’re getting somewhere... and then bmw charge you £80.!!
Some companies ( e tyres? I think) will guarantee you no damage...£40 there I think...
    My advice is shop around...

That's great advice. I am more than happy paying a premium to ensure my wheels (and my car) are looked after. My challenge has been: where do I go? I will follow up with the leads you provided.

Make sure you give whomever does it 'the talk' works for me. This is you P&J, you know every single mark on the car and there's a tip in it at the end if there are no marks on your PRISTINE rims.

ALso a casual threat of bodily harm works if the above fails :-D

I have used Formula One Autocentre in Gosport, 154 Fareham Rd.

There was a point when the fitter struggled to remove the tyre until he realised the was another piece of the kit he needed to bring into play to override the wheel's tyre retention moulding.
Nothing was damaged, pressures were fine, and the only negative was that he used an airgun, followed by a torque wrench, and one set of the wheel bolts were over tightened.

Obviously, the quality of the service depends on which fitter does the work.

I've done my share of tyre fitting and with the wrong kit it's almost impossible to do the BMW sizes in runflats. When everyone had 16" non runflats it was a doddle :p

Nothing like a threat of violence to get them to see sense:)
