The date won't matter since they've agreed the 15th - stop worrying yourself now :)

Whatever loan car they give you, check it carefully for any damages/ scratches etc before driving away in it.

Well done (eventually), but you shouldn't have all this in the first place!

Thanks all. Yes, fingers crossed, it all goes to plan.

Now wondering what the loan car will be..... Never had my car serviced etc at this dealer so unsure if they get cars from 3rd parties or supply a like for like car etc.

well it looks like the three customer service forms worked and i would have been very surprised if you had been ignored after that, a few years ago i had a courtesy call from the dealer principal at a large dealership in Cheshire asking was i happy with the dealership experience after buying an approved used car

when i replied NO i am being given the run around by the service department trying to get issues sorted that I asked to be done pre delivery but they werent, i was being told that i couldn't take the car in on a Saturday as they couldn't give me a courtesy car on a Saturday and all sorts of other twaddle, 11 minutes after hanging up with the dealer principal the service manager was on the phone, two days later i had a courtesy car delivered to my door and my car was collected and taken to be sorted out, four days later my car was returned and everything was as it should have been on delivery

i also had follow up calls from the service manager and the dealer principal to make sure everything was sorted to my satisfaction

it is amazing how things seem to happen when you speak to the right people

Yes, not sure if it was the forms of the fact that this person actually does ring customers back when left messages to do so but either way, i'm glad I have received a call. Disappointed that effectively we have to start from scratch as they messed up the procedure to follow for a claim and this was ultimately why i wasn't getting a call back it seems. Now we are starting from the beginning again.

I'm a bit hesitant about leaving them the car tbh, even though this is the actual dealer i bought the car from, but hopefully it will be ok, I'm hoping that as they know how unhappy I was and the fact I've been basically ignored for over 2 weeks, they will look after my car and get it sorted asap in the hopes of making me a happy customer again and one that would be happy to go back to them but we will see. I'm also hoping they will push the warranty claim on my behalf should they have to.

I've just ordered a "do not wash my car" sign for the car too as i'm not letting them do a thing to it other than take pics/videos and replace the wheels and i'm hoping that doesn't get messed up also.

Considering purchasing the wheel centre caps too as now they will keep the car, might need to take a gamble that they approve the claim, this way I can leave them in the car when i drop them off and they can fit them if new wheels approved.

Bigger concern is how do i protect them going forward to avoid this again as I will only have around 6 months of the 3 year warranty or does extended warranty cover corrosion on wheels as I plan to take that out again, assuming i still have the car then which is very much up in the air at the moment.

with a diamond cut alloy you will always have this issue, it is known as white worm and i dont know anything that will stop it other than solid single color alloys

if you do get new wheels then they will probably suffer the same issue at some point but you may be looking to change the car by that time so it may be somebody elses problem

also i wouldn't spend money on new centers before the car goes in if they come out with the same old centres then change them at that point as it is a two minute DIY job m

Very true, I've had the car approx 1.5 years and only noticed it a week or so before i posted, unsure how long it has been starting as not noticed it but not very good if its just over a year.

Can't see why BMW make them if they all suffer this, seems like a costly expense for them to keep replacing under warranty. Some people I've read have had 3 brand new sets of wheels on there car.

    diamond cut alloys white worm

have a look at that link and you will see it is not just a BMW problem it is a diamond cut alloy problem, i would say that white worm in the early stages is more of a cosmetic issue rather than wheel corrosion that could become a safety issue

when the wheel is made it is painted a solid colour and then the face of the alloy turned on a lathe taking the paint off and exposing the actual alloy of the wheel, this is then coated with a clear cote lacquer and what you are seeing is water getting under the clear cote and reacting with the cut face of the alloy

hmm interesting, can't say i'd seen anything for diamond cut wheels on other makes but seems they are so no real way to avoid it unless you buy a car without diamond cut wheels..

@Kev2005 Have you had your car cleaned by any local car wash outfits? They use harsh chemicals that will shift dirt in a couple of minutes. The wheel cleaner is actually a dilute acid, and unless rinsed off completely will lead to corrosion. For that reason, I have only ever washed my car myself, using mild non corrosive products. My F30 has the same 403M diamond cut wheels and no sign of the dreaded 'white worm' after more than 3 years. Although I'm under no illusion that it won't happen, which no doubt it will eventually.

I think anyone with diamond cut wheels has to accept they will need to be refurbished at some point.

I also treat my wheels with Poor Boys Wheel Sealant a couple of times a year. It's easy to apply with a cloth and then buff with a micro fibre cloth.

@Kev2005 I have notices d/loaded from DW ages ago, asking Dealers not to give your car their 'courtesy wash'. Laminate & leave in the car [propped on the dash or in the binnacle].

I've seen the long [yard?] brush and 25ltr containers of truck wash round the back......

I can email them to you if you want. (y)

a small plastic trim removal tool will remove the old cap in no time just pry it towards you and then get your fingers under the edge and pull

Ah, I thought the centre caps looked bit tricky and could mark wheels more, will have another look and see.
