Wahey! :woohoo:Passed again with no advisories.

I’m now in my third year of ownership and actually feel really pleased (and lucky?) that I’ve been driving this car without any mechanical problems or snags all that time. (y)
Now let me go knock on wood. Wait, I’ll do that on my lovely trim... :D

Mine passed a couple of weeks back, 3 years old and 14k miles, no advisories. I’d be worried if there were any!

I knew I shouldn't have said that. On the way home from a hospital appointment yesterday, I started getting warnings for the Active Steering, Dynamic Drive etc and by the time I reached here I could hardly turn the wheel.
Too dreich today to go out to investigate, clear codes etc but my money's on the control module which lives behind a cover in the offside wheel arch. Which bright designer at BMW decided that that would be the ideal location for an electronic control box - right in the path of water from the tyre treads .

Ifa reset doesn't do anything, I may have to remove the wheel, cover and module to dry it out and hope the electronics haven't been sitting in a bath for ages......

Theodore Woodward wrote "When you hear hoofbeats, think of horses not zebras" so I followed his thinking and just been out to check [too dreich for a full investigation and I'm staving off a cough :rolleyeses:] the obvious thing(s) first.
Guess what? The power steering fluid reservoir is empty. :yikes: Must have sprung a leak in the last 10 days or so, as everything was checked thoroughly prior to the MOT.

Will phone my local garage man tomorrow to see when we can get her up on the ramp to have a look-see. Hopefully it's just a pipe and not anything to do with the rack. #bigfingers crossed.

Off to study RealOEM to get the lie of the land, pipework-wise.

    Never rains, eh? :-D

hope you can get it up on the ramp this week and have a look. Are you able to drive it to the garage or not recommended?

I hope that it's an easy solution, John. Not good news, especially at this time of year on the run up to Christmas.
Loss of fluid is possibly an easier fix than an electronics problem. Maybe just a seal or a pipe failure? Personally, I would look at getting it transported to the workshop rather than risk a loss of steering on the road.

Good luck - I hope that you get it sorted. (y)

Aye, garage is 1 mile away and I have a couple of litres of fluid here which I'll stick in before driving to the appointment time. Helpfully [NOT!] the Owners Manual is silent on the subject of system capacity. I'll fill it and work the wheel from side to side to try to get all the air out immediately before setting out.

With any luck it'll be a perished, split hose or leaking union. The good thing is it wasn't a catastrophic, sudden loss. :driving:
