My car will need new tyres soon. its currently fitted with 4x Pirelli P7 Cinturato 225/60 R17 V(99) i am also asking your expert advice/ recommendations about Michelin / Continental. Continental EcoContact 6 225/60 R17 99Y AO vs Michelin Primacy 3 225/60 R17 99Y * What tyres you use and what are the best tyres to get fitted, it has done 60000 miles. Thanks
AO suffix would indicate they're Audi original fitment. I'm aware that 4WD BMW's have had issues (transfer box?) with non star (*) rated tyres in the past
Do a search on your reg number on any one of the national chains - it will bring a list up including Continental and Michelin suitable fot your car You need BMW / * MARKED
Blackcircles.com are a good one. Put your reg number and post code in and it will give you a good idea of the appropriate tyres. As above, you will need BMW * rated tyres to maintain warranty etc.
would go for Michelin Primacy 3 225/60 R17 99Y * they have the BMW* and Michelin are a fantastic tyre with nice grip and longevity
Just wanted to jump in on this topic with a tyre update rather than start a new one. Yesterday we replaced the front tyres on my girlfriend's 2018 X3 30D G01 as they had worn excessively on the outer 25%, they were Michelin Pilot Sport SUV tyres, fitted in 2021, and had covered 46,850 miles !!! I had to check our maintenance file twice to make sure that was correct, amazing! The rear tyres, which were also fitted in 2021 when I replaced all 4 existing runflats, were replaced exactly a year ago and had covered 30,000 miles. The PS 4 SUV is certainly a tyre with longevity! We've never had any issues in snow with these tyres but this time I've fitted a more all-season tyre - Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV.
I've not had an F25, but of the G01 X3s I've had, my preference was the Michelin, followed by the Continental and Bridgestone being the least favorite. Ed
I'm running Michelin Pilot Sport on my G01 and indeed they seem to be a great tyre, with a slow rate of wear, roughly 1mm for every 5k of driving in my hands. Being 600ft up in the Scottish Highlands we do see our fair share of snow though, so I run a full winter set Nov - Apr. The brand of winter tyre escapes me just now, but I couldn't seem to find Michelin CrossClimate in the right size, as those would be a good compromise. I've got a set of those on our wee Citroen C3 and they are fantastic in the snow. This is my street after an overnight snowfall, the council don't usually clear it for sometimes a couple of days, so decent rubber is a must to get anywhere!
