TLC Required.
It's a miserable Bank Holiday weekend in the frozen North so I thought I'd give Bella a bit of TLC. It's been about 3 years since I had the outer sills off so whipped them off to have a look, not to bad considering she's an all year round car in the wettest County in England. A good clean, sand away any corrosion and add a good lashing of POR15 then take a look at the rest of the underneath and clean/treat as I go. The inner sills still look solid post my last clean and touch-up so happy with that. Only very basic tools required though having a lift helps.

New car - 128ti
No, not mine - but within the family.
My Uncle, who has a worse habit of buying cars than even myself(!), has just placed a deposit on a new 128ti for collection next week. His current fleet is a very high end Motorhome and the Alpina D4 Grancoupe which I talked him into last year. Up until recently, he found that the Cayenne eHybrid Platinum Edition that he had alongside the Alpina wasn’t getting much use as he preferred to take the Alpina on virtually every journey. However, after selling the Cayenne he found he didn’t want to use the Alpina for the mundane/shopping trips and was always worried about where he parked it.
In comes the idea of a “shopping car”. Initially looked at a Focus ST but found it too plasticky. Then drove the M135i (same model as what he’s just bought) but found it fast but inert. When the Salesman pointed him and his wife to a test drive in the 128ti, they both found it much more of an involving drive. The deal was done.

Caffeine and Machine visit
Whilst I’m into month 5 of my sabbatical / aka jobless, I have a lot of time on my hands so took a long overdue blast today on the A272 in the M5 to visit ‘The Hut’, the newest of three pubs of the Caffeine and Machine family located in Hampshire. Drive was damp but very surprised upon arrival at a car park full of sports cars, modern classics and other exotics. Seems it’s not just me evading work these days.
Official opening of The Hut is on the 17th (Sunday) so expected to arrive to an empty car park, but clearly business was booming even today. I got marshalled in and shown a parking bay next to a trio of Porsche’s. I never take for granted how lucky I am to arrive anywhere in the M.
Really pleased to have found my piece of petrolhead heaven which allows me a spirited 40 min drive there and back and the opportunity to interact with other car nerds!

My favourite was the E28 M5 which looked splendid with not a spot of rust anywhere....
