Was it toasted? My C63S is now with LV £402. The benefits of being the wrong side of 50. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It was a sweet deal..... I’m 7 weeks away from the wrong side of 50....thankfully the good Mrs W is considerably the wrong side of 50, so brings the cost down by £50!
One of the funny things with insurance is that both my boys add me and my wife to their insurance and it reduces the cost... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Renewal time for my wife and me with the new 2020 LCI X1 xDrive 2.0i MSport. I found that dropping back to the one car instead of two, L&V was not as competitive as they were previously. I did the search the net with comparethemarket.com etc, and I found I could get it down to around £355.00. But with more and more addons that I wanted, it started to creep up. Someone on here last year said that NFU Mutual was pretty good, so after scouring around, I rang the local office, and, low and behold, with all the add ons that I wanted with other companies, NFU came out as being very competitive. In fact, they were £1 dearer than L&V, and also the annual price was exactly the same whether I paid the premium as a lump sum or spread it over the year using direct debit. One thing that I was not aware of is that with each year you are with them you get a discount as well as the NCD. This could mean that the price could down each year.
The annual discount (called the "mutual bonus" ) is not constant. I am on the maximum and this year was 16.5% but last March it was 17.5% March 2019 & March 2018 it was up at 18.5% seems its based on overall nfu performance. It applies to all my policy's so its also on the house , contents ect. They also make no charge for amendments on policy.
I've just had a pleasant surprise today. My renewal quote from AXA Insurance has arrived and it is £43 less than last year's premium at £267 for Comprehensive with all the extras. I did a comparison quote, just out of interest, and they were all more expensive. I must admit that this is a first - I've never received a renewal quote that is lower than the previous year.
My AXA renewal was the same price as last year. Tried a couple of the price comparison sites, and found Darwin at about a 40% saving, plus £20 Halfords voucher.
Apparently there are several algorithms at play here - or so I'm told. Reduced annual mileages caused by Covid restrictions are but one. Every cloud has a silver lining - or - It's an ill wind etc. comes to mind. I notified my insurers (NFU) of a reduced estimate of annual mileage last year (16K down to 12K) and they lowered the premium by approx £50. I might well review it again this year. I've fingers crossed for my renewal in March.
I didn't inform them of reduced mileage - just left it at 6K / Ann now that I'm retired. Just living in hope that I'll be doing more driving this year.
Count yourselves lucky - I read a thread on Concorde Owners Club (the Motorhome manufacturer) Facebook page today where a guy has had his insurance premium go up from £3,800pa to £5,800pa in the last 12months. Admittedly his van cost close on £800k but still, a horrific amount of money and a 52% increase!
Apparently from 1st Jan Car and Home Insurance companies must offer existing customers the same deal as new customers so loyalty may actually pay ?
Needless to say - I lost no time in making an immediate online payment before they could change their mind.
I dont know if Saga are doing a promotion but in December I got a X1 F48 2018 and a 2018 Fire Fiesta fully comp for less than £400 previous day it was over £500
Saga went up for me with my x5. Went the comparison route and the RAC came in at £108 fully comp bonus protection for me and her. Handy living here lol.
Aye, but what was his age, driving record, annual mileage and base location? All have a big impact on premiums loading.
Its that time of the year again and the renewal from Aviva has arrived Its £0.92 cheaper than last year ! That is for a two car policy, a G30 520d x drive and an F48 2.0 X1 - full comp, with personal business use £511 Interestingly the 5 series premium is quite a bit less than the X1 to insure BUT the 5 series then has a compulsory £250 excess owing to the type of car !
I've just renewed with NFU at £490 - that's £54 more than last year Did the usual shopping around and they are still the best deal for us. There are other companies which are cheaper - much cheaper, but when we take everything into account NFU are cheaper for our year long requirements, plus I can pay monthly by DD at no extra cost over the pay in full annual payment. They provide cover abroad at no extra charge and cover countries that no-one else will will entertain at any price. We're getting a 12 month Green Card this year for multiple journeys. Before I was with NFU we frequently had to buy 'Border' or 'Transit' insurance which is the bare minimum 3rd party and costs around £50 for 2 weeks. Three countries like that, twice a year adds an extra £300 or so to the annual cost. The other problem with border insurance is that one has to find a Spedition Office at the border (usually with a long line of truckers waiting for paperwork) which often don't work 24/7 - nightmare. Oh the joys of 'roads less travelled'.
I got the renewal from nfu yesterday X1. up £51 Z3 down £30 Ivor Williams up £5 But I am looking at swapping the Z3 over to Ageas on a Classic Agreed Valuation(via ClassicLine Insurance) to save any hassle if the worst occurs The Z3 has only done 8k miles in last 4years , but my concern is using Ageas as I have never heard of them. The policy has an excess of £50. (nfu total excess £150) and is £95 cheaper.
