Hi my name is Patrick, Im proud owner of my first BMW, 118D M sport in estoril blue, car has covered 77k miles, has full history really nice condition, is it possible to listen to my music fron iphone? Through bluetooth? Only issue I have the speakers are very poor quality , also wanted to ask for common faults etc what to look out for in future how often to service it, and where can I check dpf miles left on it ? My dad had it on his 5 series but this I cannot find anything regarding that, also the ambient lighting is that only footwell lights ? And is there way to get angle eyes ? I bate ugly yellow bulbs !

    Welcome to the forum.
The steering shouldn't be wandering. I would check the obvious first which is wheels, tyres and pressures.
Lights can be changed by using some aftermarket osram bulbs, and by selecting the right colour range it can be white or with that blue xenon tinge.
The dpf won't regenerate if the engine temp is low and this is normally due to glow plugs or thermostats. A decent independent will be able to read the codes and work out when the last regen happened and what the pressure readings are now. Why are you concerned about the dpf on a new (to you) car?
If all is well, then take it out on a nice motorway run, with 1/2 a tank of diesel and a steady 70mph for 20 mins or longer.
The dpf horror stories of old have largely gone, but hopefully you haven't bought a diesel to do short journeys to the station.

Welcome Patrick:) Cant answer your lights or I Phone question but it does sound like your wobbly steering could be you need one of the front wheels balanced , it s nothing to do with the car being rear wheel drive . Check your front tyre pressures as well, over inflated tyres can cause light steering . If it s none of those you need to get it checked out . Good luck with it , it looks a nice car .

Im concerned about dpf as my old audi had issues with dpf and that leaded to diesel contamination with engine oil so my oil was rising! , im doing around 12-14k miles a year mix town and b roads ? Sometimes go out for drive which I am planning to do in this car more often than I did in Audi, regarding that wobbly steering wheel I had my tracking done but wasnt much out they checked pressures in tyres etc before tracking was done anyways will take it to balance the wheels tomorrow and see what happens regarding them bulbs I no I can get bulbs but Im talking about the angel eyes what some 1 series have is it possible to retro fit it ? So these 1 series dont tell miles left on dpf then that is strange my dads 56 plate 5 series did it anyway love the car got many plans for it mod wise first think is grille gloss black with m sport colours

your dads 5 series just says when the dpf is due to be changed. All things being equal it's around 120k miles. Only plugging it in will reveal the last regen and any issues. If you are doing 12-14k miles a year, then there is no need to go out specially to invoke a regen.
Can't help with retrofitting lights, but buying donor xenon lamps would require extra wiring and recoding

Regarding the audio, BMW speakers are very poor quality, I changed all mine for Gladen custom fit speakers with two 8" subs under the seats with a 6 channel DSP amp, very good sound now but a lot of work and £1600 for the parts.
    Welcome by the way!

Welcome! Nice car and good colour.

I presume you have just the base audio, no amp/hifi/tweeters? If so, changing just the speakers won't really make any difference. Ideally you would need a package like this one http://www.teamspb.co.uk/bmw-audio-upgrade-package-1-p/one130.4-bmw201.htm. If you're handy with a spanner you can fit it yourself. The difference in sound between base audio and this is amazing as I'm sure @kleynie will testify :)

Funny that my son asked about interior LED lights for his VW Golf yesterday :)

I haven't looked into it, but the easiest place to connect them would be the interior light which comes on at lock/unlock and door openings.
The next question will be which LED type to use. It will have to be 12v, and xxx microamps so the current drain will be minimal.
I can't see why you should get any Canbus errors, as we're not connecting them to that circuit?
I will have to buy a few and try connecting them to his light, see what happens.
