When I took my car in for service at a French dealership, and told them I didn't want the car cleaning, the receptionist looked at me like I'd grown another head. It turned out they only valet a car when it's up for sale. It was a case of you paid for service, not to have your car cleaned. Fine by me.
What about the 'lay the chamois on the tarmac and clean it with the pressure washer' technique? that's a great one for the paint
Hi all, Update to the fiasco... I'm now sat back in the dealership, the loan car isn't ready as it was booked in for Monday so they have the loan car down to collect Monday not today.... I think the saying is count to 10 before you reply. So lady comes over and says they can do it today weather than take a loan so I'm now sitting here waiting. I have told her this is the second time it's been here as it was messed up last time. I'm hoping this isn't a repeat of before so let's see.... Kevin
I think safe to say I've set the tone so far as not impressed at all. Asked how long it would be to take pictures & videos, can't get a time but not too long so is that 30mins, 1hr, 2hrs??? So fed up now... they apparently need to get body shop to look at it too... No clue why when it's the wheels, it not the paintwork etc... On a side note, still no biscuits available Kev
Noticed a older 3 series in car park for servicing in which the drivers window had broke and it had bmw branded covers over the window, more signs of appalling work and it was in 2 prices and looks like came apart as would see into car not to mention the water on cars this morning, bet owner will be happy on return... Definitely ain't coming back here again after wheels sorted... sales part has big section of used cars, really ideal to look for a car but servicing etc is woeful so far.. I am getting tempted to use that CEO email address.... 2 issues so far, 1 no response to calls etc for 2 weeks, 2 loan car not arranged for Saturday when dropping car off! Who arranges to drop car off Saturday then come back and pic a loan car up on Monday???? Totally ridiculous.. I'm now fully expecting a 3rd issue of pics/videos not done right or not clear enough etc... Think I've decided if they don't replace wheels, car is going, tempted to take straight to Sales and say give me a price for it and put money in this account as not buying another bmw after this fiasco so they lost a customer. Oh it gets better, looks like guy come to pick up his car, they come back said they can't find it!!! They checked reg and they had it written down wrong! How's that possible as must be correct on paperwork surely... Oh they found it now Kev
There will be one of the senior management team at the dealership working this morning. Ask to see them in person. Even if the service dept have no loan cars available there will be other dealership cars he can lend you.....
They taking to video/pics etc now so no loan but got to wait to get car back so had to agree otherwise I'd have to re-arranfe it and getting here during the week is a issue due to shift I'm on atm.. Kev
Sorry Kev but in my books it simply is not good enough. They have messed you around for weeks, they have your car booked in for this work. They should be bending over backwards to put you in a loan car today and let you keep it until you can get back to pick yours up. Or they deliver yours back to you and collect the loan car....if you trust them to drive yours
Atm trust is low in this place so in some ways it may be good I get it back then they can't damage it when it's parked who knows where etc.. I sign paper now so I'm waiting but rest assured I will be speaking to the guy who is dealing with this (doesn't work weekends) and expressing my unhappiness again as this is twice they have messed up, incompetence here is incredible. I'm seriously considering asking if they will replace the wheels at there expense and then take the claim up themselves as this is appalling service to date. Also for significant inconvenience, hassle to replace tyres by way of making a mess for mashups. Doubt they do tyres but hopeful on wheels but need to speak to guy who handling as he service manager. and the hits keep on coming..... Person I saw today has advised that they can replace the wheel which has the most corrosion under warranty and they will be in touch in a couple of days when they get the wheel in to arrange replacing but the other 3 wheels only have a very small amount of corrosion and are not corroded enough for BMW to replace them. I advised her that they were still corroded and there is only 6 months left on the warranty so what happens then? I was advised there is still 6 months and BMW wont replace them as not corroded enough. I determined I wasn't going to get anywhere so I've decided I am going to call the person who is handling the case up first thing Monday and explain my utter disgust how this is being handled and now suddenly only 1 wheel can be replaced whereas before I was told all 4 were ok to be replaced subject to approval by BMW warranty dept. What amazes me is the person today was able to say they would replace the 1 wheel with no mention of submitting the warranty claim so they must know BMW would approve this wheel with no issues so being told last time I had to wait for warranty approval doesn't make any sense, seems they all have a different way of working, no actual set procedure. I now want either them to replace the wheels or BMW to at there expense, don't care who, the other 3 are corroded regardless of how much and are therefore faulty and need replacing. Unfortunately this has lead to me being 99% certain I wont be remaining with BMW as if they can't replace faults under manufacturers warranty, I don't see any point in taking out extended warranty after 3 years. I mean if i had a issue with the gear box for example, they would probably say it isn't bad enough, wait till it wont go in gear at all before we replace it! To say i am livid is a understatement.... role on Monday when I get on the phone and tell him what I want to happen or i'm going to the CEO in BMW! Kev
Don't mess with [or be messed about by] the Dealers any more - straight to Mr Grieve now would be quite justified. Mark your communication "Private & Confidential". Lay out your case clearly & concisely and don't get in 'rant mode', easy to slip in to.
They did a vehicle health check... Front tyres 7mm, 7mm, good condition Rear tyres 5mm, 5mm good condition suspension all ok, underneath of car all clean and healthy Rear break pads 9mm Fronts break pads 11mm Compared to May 2018... Front tyres 8mm, 7mm, good condition Rear tyres 6mm, 6mm, good condition suspension all ok, underneath of car all clean and healthy Rear break pads 11mm Fronts break pads 12mm I'm in no way convinced of what they say so i'm taking the complimentary health check as a pinch of salt as not convinced its correct I mean surely both front tyres would have reduced in tread, not just 1? Break pads i'm not sure they have reduced that much tbh. Kev
I am going to give the person who is dealing with the case a chance to rectify this on Monday as in fairness he was not in today as doesn't work weekends so I feel that's fair as he wasn't dealing with the case originally and so far has kept his word to call when eh said he woudl etc. However, if he doesn't agree to replace the wheels either themselves or by BMW, then Mr Grieve is my next stop, I wont be going to senior management within the dealership as I suspect they will all close ranks. I am likely to start composing my email to Mr Grieve tomorrow in preparation in case I get no where on Monday so i'm ready to click the send button Kev
Yes, i recall reading that - i think it was a link to a different site? From what i recall, they basically went on about the wheels being faulty etc and in the end it turned out the video/pictures were not good enough quality so they couldn't determine.. but for me they actually said it whilst in person and having the car, it hasn't gone to BMW for Approval to my knowledge as if it did they must of got a very very quick reply as I was there for approx 1hr or so and they probably had the car in for 40mins maybe of that time, the rest was waiting for it to be looked at and getting it back...
