The Scotland Job.
A great long weekend in Scotland with Team Zed. Seven cars all in compromising of;
Z3 2.8 Single VANOS, senior citizen of the group (mine)
Z3 2.8 Twin VANOS
Z3 2.8 Twin VANOS Facelift
Z3 2.2 (224,000 miles so nearly run in )
Z4 E85 3.0 si
Z4 E89 SDrive 20i
Z4 G29 SDrive 20i
Based just outside Dumfries in a nice hotel with decent food. Forecast was grim but roof down 70% on Saturday, a few savage showers, and 100% on Sunday with sun all day (roof down there and back too). 500 miles for me with others coming from further afield.
Two great routes
Car defo needed a good clean when home due to the weather.

M5 Touring Replacement
After a year and a bit of no M5 I did some bits on the house and pretty much come to an end with that.
I was looking seriously for an Alpina as felt this could fit the bill for a replacement but few and far between for what I wanted to get.
So deposit paid on a 2007 S63 AMG L. This car is in silver with black leather interior, 61,000 miles on the clock and three owners from new. Pretty excited and have done some restoration work on the SL and it’s pretty enjoyable restoring an older car so got this (not that on the face of it it will need anything doing currently) and need to do some work on the a range Rover this year.
Don’t think I will make money on this in the same way as the M5 as a different type of car but probably won’t lose much money on it in the future as well.
I still have a read through here now and again and appreciate that I will contribute less as no BMW on fleet.
Cheers

F20 118i ownership thread
So 9 months in and my 118i continues to impress me as a commuter car and general runabout. My commute is in excess of 150 miles round trip, and overall it’s a smooth, comfortable and fun car to be in. It has all the benefits of a light, agile town car coupled with all the comfort I need for these longer trips. The black cloth sports seats are really comfortable with just the right amount of support, in fact the most comfortable seats I have sat in on any car in this class. It seems to be a car capable of both the town stuff and the long distance comfort. Features are basic but adequate although having a rear camera plus cruise control are additional features I appreciate having especially for the demands I throw at it. Power wise the 1.5 B38 has more than adequate power for cruising, with long gearing in 6th to make cruising effortless and enough on tap to have fun in sports mode.
Reliability wise, just one warranty claim for the manual seat adjuster that stuck and needed a...
